It seems my use of ENB + Action! causes these games to crash. And on many modern machines the performance drop is often negligible. But I remembered that, on my machine at least, they actually have a common denominator. If I shut down Action! everything is fine. These are two very different engines from completely different companies, so this was a total head-scratcher for me. With Skyrim, it crashes to the desktop as soon as it starts to initialize the 3D engine. giving only a black screen for a render window and cannot load a flight. With FSX, the program fails to load the 3D engine.

As a side note, I was also unable to use Skyrim at all. The issue is when I try to make videos using another game (Flight Simulator X - which I see you all are no stranger to!) to better explain a point I'm trying to make. It was first developed by Boris Vorontsov and has been customized by many. It is fully customizable and with some skill, can be changed to your liking.
